The Qualitative Strategies Conference Series

Those who knocked on the cathedral door gained sanctuary.   I thought that might be useful.

There’s something special about a conference that brings together people who use the same tools – you learn so much, because nobody spends the first half of their paper explaining “I’m using this software called NVivo and it has these functions…”

The Strategies conference series was begun by the efforts of Colm Crowley, then at Institute of Education, University of London, in 1999. It worked wonderfully to generate conversations, arguments, crazy discussions and serious collaborations. There were always new people and new ideas – and always boundless energy. The conference moved north to the University of Durham, in 2004, for more affordable accommodation and an informal setting that fostered discussion and fun.

The last in this remarkable series was the 2006 conference.

A much regretted ending - but watch the qual-strategies website for new broader initiatives.
